| 2010 Veteran's Day Parade A small group of Poly alumni from different classes attended the Veteran's Day Parade in downtown Fort Worth on November 11 to observe and show community support for the Poly High Band, called The Pride of Poly Marching Band. Even though it is small, the band demonstrated the spirit of Poly bands of the past. This led to the creation and printing of the 12 X 18 poster shown below by the Class of 1959. The poster was given to each band member and was displayed prominently in the school. After the parade, the group below assembles at the El Rancho Grande restaurant on North Main for lunch. |
| 2011 Stock Show Parade A group of Poly Alumni from different classes from 1957 to 1969 braved a bitter North wind to show support for the Poly marching band at the annual Stock Show Parade. After the parade the group met for lunch at Angelo's Bar-B-Q. The Pride of Poly Marching Band was ranked the second best band in the parade, with the number one band being the TCU Marching Band. A great accomplishment for the young Poly band that just a few years ago had dwindled down to just six members. The Class of 1959 designed and provided copies the poster seen below to each band and drill team member. |
| MARIACHI FESTIVAL OVERWHELMING SUCCESS Poly's first ever MARIACHI MUSIC FESTIVAL had it all...mouthwatering homemade food, students in the aisles dancing, several hundred parents/ friends/ and faculty, 2 professional Mariachi groups and outstanding Latin music performed by FTWISD Mariachi groups including Wm. James Middle School, J.P. Elder, Arlington Heights, Paschal, North Side and Poly's Mariachi Los Pericos. Former Poly Graduates from the classes of 1958, '59, '60, and '65 all had a great day meeting these kids and enjoying the food and Latin music. Marta O'Campo, Poly's Music Director, said the event held Sat. Sept 17th "far exceeded her expectations"! Funds from the music festival will be used for transporting members of Mariachi Los Pericos and The Pride of Poly Marching Band to competitions as well as for additional musical instruments. |
