The Poly Blues
"The Poly Blues" was written by Perry Sandifer, the
father of Darla Sandifer Shannon.  Mr. Sandifer was
the band director at Poly from 1941 through 1946.
He wrote the Poly Blues around 1941.  While he was
Band Director at Poly, he was also playing with a
band that performed at the old Texas Hotel in
Downtown Fort Worth.  He wrote a piece called
"The B-Flat Blues" for that band, and then adapted
it for the Poly Band, renaming it "The Poly Blues."
He wrote the original score in long hand for use by
the band.  After leaving Poly, Mr. Sandifer went on
to become the pre-eminent music educator for Fort
Worth ISD.

The version that was recorded was played by
The 1955 Marching 100
under the direction of
Frank Kasko.
