2010 Veterans Day Parade

The Poly JROTC Unit marched in the Veterans Day Parade
and did an excellent job of representing the school and the community.
The Class of 1959 designed and provided posters to Poly for the JROTC.
A poster was given to each of the unit officers and posters were
displayed prominently in the school

JROTC Carwash
Saturday, 15 October 2011

JROTC members held a carwash at Cici's Pizza on North Beach Street to earn money
for uniforms.  The carwash was great success, bringing in $610.  In addition, the Poly
Alumni Association will match that amount, for a total of $1,220 to be used for the
purchase of uniforms.  The students, under the leadership of  Major Charles Brent and
1SG Terrence Campbell, did a great job, and were very pleased and appreciative of
support from Poly alumni. This is a great group of kids.
IT'S    OFFICIAL
NEW and UPDATED COMPETITION UNIFORMS for JROTC

W. O. Kelly, outgoing President of Poly Alumni Association,  recently visited Poly and
made a fabulous $ presentation to Poly's JROTC.  This final check presentation along
with $'s previously donated will cover the cost of new/ updated competition uniforms
and accessories.  Major Charles Brent, 1st. Sargeant Terrence Campbell and the cadet
officers all thought W. O. would be presenting a check donation from the Poly Alumni
Association in the amount of  $610 representing a matching $ amount for the monies
the cadets had recently raised at a carwash.  What a surprise when W. O. handed the
check to Principal, Daniel Scroggins, and announced the $ amount of $3,6
10...$610
from the Poly Alumni Association and $3,000 donated on behalf of the Class of 1955.

The original estimated $ 's required by Poly's JROTC was $6,445.  Through the
exceptional generosity of individual Poly Alumni, Class of 1955, Class of 1959,  $ funds
from The Poly Alumni Association, and JROTC cadet carwash, this $6,445 was raised.
Beginning in February 2012,  these young men and women will be performing in
competition proudly wearing new/ updated uniforms with new accessories.

Needless to say, the assembled JROTC group and Principal Scroggins all were
speechless, extremely surprised and a whole bunch of hugging and hand shaking took
place.  What a great event for these cadets to know that former Poly Alumni still care.
